Hot Miley Cyrus

Looks like teen queen Miley Cyrus wasn't joking when she said recently how it was time for her to exit the music business and focus on acting.

She recently revealed on The View that she's become a bit disheartened because "the music industry isn't as positive as I would like it to be."

Much like when she deleted her Twitter and did not return to the social media site despite harsh criticism, Cyrus is sticking to her guns here.

"I've got a record coming out in June, then I'm done," she said. "I just want to work in movies. That's what I like and what I want to be doing."

Her new film The Last Song, opening this week, is Miles' first acting project outside of Hannah Montana, and co-stars her new boyfriend Liam Hemsworth full of entertainment.

Miley and Liam made a splash on the red carpet last week, and while he may be a tad biased, he says he wasn't surprised that Cyrus held her own acting.

"You know how she feels when she's feeling down and you know how she feels when she is feeling up," he said. "She's always a very expressive person."

"That really works on the screen, and she's really good."

Is she? We'll find out when we review The Last Song of Hot Miley Cyrus.

Bollywood troubled actor Salman Khan is once again haunted by his mischievous past. This time, it’s not for the killing of the endangered Chinkara or running over some poor people sleeping on the street but to depose as a witness in a case involving the movie Chori Chori Chupke.

He appeared before the Special MCOCA Court yesterday (March 11) over the allegation by the city police that his film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke was made with the underworld’s money. 2010 Oscar Nominees Announced

2010 Oscar Nominees Announced

This morning Anne Hathaway and Academy President Tom Sherak were on hand to announce the nominees for the 2010 Academy Awards. Avatar and The Hurt Locker each had the most nominations, nine apiece, including Best Picture. Also included in the Best Picture top 10 were surprises like District 9 and The Blind Side, as well as A Serious Man, Inglourious Basterds, An Education, Precious, Up and Up in the Air.

Inglourious Basterds was just behind in the nominations tally with eight, while Precious and Up in the Air snagged six each and Up, surprisingly enough for an animated film, scored four.

Surprises included the snubbing of Invictus in Best Picture, despite the fact that Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon both scored acting nominations, and the inclusion of Maggie Gyllenhaal in Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Crazy Heart. I was thrilled to see In the Loop score a Best Original Screenplay nomination, though a little sad to see it apparently at the expense of (500) Days of Summer. The Best Original Score category got a little wacky too, with longshots like the scores for Fantastic Mr. Fox and Sherlock Holmes sneaking in– both excellent choices, of course.

Best Actress Winner 2010 Sandra Bullock

The graceful ceremony of the Academy Awards 2010 took place in California at Kodak Theater Hollywood, Los Angeles. The movie that earned Sandra an award was “The Blind Side.”

Though Sandra Annette Bullock has played many memorable roles in various hits such as ‘Miss Congeniality,’ ‘While You Were Sleeping’ or ‘Speed’ movies but her appearances in the movies such as ‘The Proposal’ and ‘The Blind Side,’ proved to be huge success in her career.

Both the aforementioned movies are considered to be her career’s financially successful most ones and especially The Blind Side wherein Sandra played Leigh Anne Touhy. This particular role has earned the veteran Best Actress Golden Globe Award, Outstanding Performance (Female Actor) Screen Actors Guild Award and very recently the Best Actress Academy Award i.e. on March 7, 2010.

She was crowned last night in the 82nd ceremony of Annual Academy Awards also known as Oscar Awards 2010 whereby Sandra Annette Bullock appeared on stage in a silver gown that made her look evermore graceful while on the red carpet. The ceremony was hosted by actor Alec Baldwin along with Steve Martin and according to the experts; the best dressed up among the females was Sandra.

Other nominees in the same category i.e. the Best Actress, were Gabourney Sidibe, Carey Mulligan, Helen Mirren and one of the most regarded talented veteran Meryl Streep. The movies they received nominations for were Precious, An Education, The Last Station and Julie and Julia, respectively.

Following her victory, Sandra would be seen delivering an acceptance speech wherein the actress addressed all other nominees and calling them by their names she said “Love you so much Gabby, what makes me sic dear Cary, is your talent and beauty and Helen, you know what I feel about you; we’re a family.”

And to Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock made a very special comment. She kind reminded the graceful lady of a memorable event of January this year and said “Must know what I feel and think of you; such a great kisser you are!”

Neil Nitin Shut up to Shah Rukh Khan

Trust Shah Rukh to espouse irreverence. But Neil hasn't been able to get over it. Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu were in a state of shock after Neil's outburst on stage against Shah Rukh Khan at the Filmfare awards.

Two days after Neil told co-hosts Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan to just plainly and simply shut up on stage at the Filmfare Awards at Yashraj studios, the debate rages in the film industry.

Was the well-behaved blue-eyed-boy's aggressive impudence towards his superstar seniors on Neil's home turf (he's known as a full-on Yashraj boy) for real? Or was it just an act?

To rewind a bit: At the Filmfare awards, co-hosts Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan decided to take on Neil on stage, riling him endlessly. The final straw was the digs that Shah Rukh took at Neil's name.

"Neil," said Shah Rukh, "Why do you have three first names and no surname? My name is Khan. Saif too is a Khan. How come you have no last name?"

Neil couldn't take the slight to his family name. He not-so-gently reminded Shah Rukh that he ought to restrain himself because his, Neil's, father was sitting in the audience.

And then, horror of horrors, he told Shah Rukh to just shut up.

There was an uncomfortable silence in the auditorium.

Recalling the incident with an uncomfortable laugh, Neil said: "I'm still shaking. Imagine me telling Shah Rukh Khan to shut up! But I did. That isn't all. At the end of the show I walked up to Shah Rukh and Saif and broke eggs on their heads."

But relax. It was all part of an act.

"It was all planned by Shah Rukh sir. I was told by the organisers, the Moranis, from beforehand that I was supposed to be part of Shah Rukh's act. I was supposed to reach early and rehearse for it. But as luck would have it I had gone to town to pick up my parents and got stuck in the traffic. By the time I reached the venue there was only time for a quick briefing on what I had to do."

Shah Rukh walked up to Neil and quickly told him the plan on stage.

Neil was aghast. "How could I say shut up to Shah Rukh Khan? I've never been rude even to my driver. But he insisted. He also told me to throw eggs at him and Saif at the end of the show. I begged and pleaded to spare me. But Shah Rukh didn't listen."

Neil did his own on-the-spot improvisation on stage to spare himself the aggravated agony. "Instead of throwing the eggs I walked up to Saif and Shah Rukh and broke the eggs on their heads. How could I throw eggs at them? Their fans would never forgive me!"

After the act Neil's shocked father has still not forgiven his son, although he has been told it was all in jest.

Says Neil: "Bipasha rushed to me and said if it was an act then it was really scary. Katrina stormed up to me after the show and told me to apologize to Shah Rukh, at once."
Laughing nervously, Neil re-lived the trauma of being forced to be rude to a hero he worships.

"I'm glad people finally got to see my mischievous side... But no thanks. Never again."

Variety Attracts Deepika Padukone

Bollywood’s ‘sunshine girl’ Deepika Padukone has every reason to celebrate. With her career going great guns and some exciting films in her kitty, the leggy beauty is now looking to consolidate her position in B-Town. “I’ve always been driven by work and variety attracts me,” confesses Deepika.

“I’ve never been afraid of doing something just because it’s different. In fact, each role that I have portrayed on screen so far has been in stark contrast from the other,”she avers. For someone who made news right from her much-talked about Bollywood launchpad opposite Shah Rukh Khan (in Om Shanti Om), Deepika continues to make for some good headlines. Her current offering (Karthik Calling Karthik) too made news much before it hit the theatres.

Movie buffs went full throttle about the unusual pairing between her and leading man Farhan Akhtar, some to the extent of even romantically linking the two together. “Who defines what’s usual and unusual? I don’t see how Farhan and I are any different from the other on-screen jodis in terms of complimenting each other. If two actors are cast opposite one another it’s because they suit their particular roles and make a good on-screen pair. Initially, I was intimidated by Farhan. But then I saw he was so chilled out and just like the other leading men I’ve worked with —fun and focused.”

Deepika’s portrayal as the new age girl in many flicks has endeared her to the audience. Her last big screen outing, Love Aaj Kal struck BO gold and redefined Bollywood romance. “I always knew that the movie will have an impact on the audience,” says Deepika.

Speaking on how the film still has an impact on her, Deepika says, “In real life too, I’m a lot like Meera, I’m always surrounded by my friends. And I think I see relationships just the way Meera does. See, when in a romantic relationship everything (else) takes a backseat.

In our lives, there are times when you realise that though you love a certain person a lot, you can’t live with him. Nothing in life makes sense. Like me, a lot of young people have been able to relate to all that Meera went through in LAK quite a bit and may have experienced a lot of those emotions/experiences,” she confesses.

From playing independent and outgoing characters, Deepika is now switching gears to period films and comedy — something she has never done before. “I’m playing Kaplana Dutta in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Khelenge Jee Jaan Se.

It’s a completely different world and at the same time a very important part of history. It’s a great responsibility for someone like me and I have to do justice to the character,” quips the actor. Sajid Khan’s Houseful is already creating a buzz (thanks to the sizzling bikini bod that Deepika flaunts) and she’s excited too.

“Comedy is the toughest thing to do. Especially Sajid’s brand of comedy where you have a tough time enacting a scene because you just can’t control your laughter,” she says with palpable excitement.

Considering that she’s been part of many hit films, does she see her paycheque looking better? “To a large extent, yes. But having said that, I would also like to clarify that my price never defines the kind of work I do.” And with many Best Actor (female) nominations coming her way, does she hope to walk away with an award this year? “

Awards are important. They mean recognition and appreciation of the hard work you’ve done. If I win then well, but if I don’t then I’m not going to sit and sulk. I’ll be back with better films the following year,” she ends on a positive note.

Katrina Kaif excited about Rajneeti

It's a departure in every which way for this Bollywood actress on the ascendant. She is playing a deglamorised politician and the Hindi has to be perfect too, but Britain born Katrina Kaif says her role in Rajneeti excites her more because she is now comfortable with the language

Katrina, who has delivered a string of hits playing the urban hip young woman, gets a makeover in Prakash Jha's Rajneeti. Dressed in cotton saris and speaking chaste Hindi, this is a challenging role that she's looking forward to. But the Hindi is passe now for the actress, whose accented Hindi meant that her many early films had to be dubbed.

"I am excited about the part (in Rajneeti), but I am not very excited about speaking Hindi because I spoke Hindi in my last 10 films. It's a great role and a great film and I certainly hope people enjoy it," Katrina told IANS over the phone from Dubai.

Rajneeti is Katrina's first political thriller and she says she wants to keep her options open by not restricting herself to any particular genre.

"If it's a good film and I enjoy it and I think the audience will enjoy it then I will do it," said the actress, who has given the most hits in last two years, including romantic comedies Namastey London, Partner and Welcome.

In Rajneeti, she will be seen rubbing shoulders with veterans like Nana Patekar and Naseeruddin Shah along with talented actors Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpai, Arjun Rampal and Bollywood's new sensation Ranbir Kapoor. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Prakash Jha, it is releasing June 4.

Katrina reportedly had a tough time dubbing for her last outing, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, because director Raj Kumar Santoshi was very particular about her Hindi.

The 25-year-old, who was initially dubbed by professional artists and still faces flak for her pronounced British accent despite a successful Bollywood career, isn't worried about her Hindi accent. In fact, she is thrilled with the way her career has shaped up.

"It's been a wonderful ride so far and I've had wonderful support from a lot of people. The audience has been very supportive and I hope that I keep getting the opportunity and the good work and as long as that's there, I am happy," she said.

Apart for her Hindi in Rajneeti, the actress has also been in the news for watching actress Madhuri Dixit's videos to prepare for a dance number in Farah Khan's directorial venture Tees Maar Khan.

"No, I haven't gone through them (the videos) yet... We have a very high energy, fun Indian song which is kind of an item song and it has some kind of resemblance to the kind of songs that Madhuri was famous for but that's kind of where it stops," said Katrina who has once again teamed up with Akshay Kumar in the film.

"Farah is unique as a director and what she gives in her sense of glamour and presentation is something which I am very excited to be part of and I hope that we make a great film," she added.

Expected to release Dec 24, Tees Maar Khan also stars Akshaye Khanna.

Asked about her reported projects like the Hindi version of The Italian Job and Dostana 2, she said: "At the moment, I am working on Rajneeti and Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan... Anything else is yet to be announced."

The actress has been recently roped in by Lux as the face of their new variant - Purple Lotus & Cream - a soap with claimed anti-ageing properties.
